Blinds firm hits one millionth product milestone
A CO Londonderry blinds company has said it has had a 40% rise in turnover over the last three years.
Bloc Blinds, which is based in Magherafelt, said it’s also spent £4m on its premises as it reached a major milestone in production as it’s now made one million blinds.
The firm, which supplies department store chain John Lewis, said sales of its patented ‘Blocout’ blackout blinds have risen by nearly 50% year on year.
Cormac Diamond, founder and managing director, said: “Reaching this significant milestone for the company follows business development in recent years, including a £4m capital investment in our state-of-the-art manufacturing premises in Magherafelt — and since 2014, our products have been sold in John Lewis stores across Great Britain.
“Part of our growth strategy involves an ongoing investment in new product development.
“An example of this is our innovative Blocout system, which is used for babies’ nurseries, children’s bedrooms or for light-sensitive sleepers.”
The company employs over 100 staff at its manufacturing headquarters in Magherafelt.
Last year, the business opened a retail-focused design studio on south Belfast’s Lisburn Road.
