It­train­ing schemeis launched

NINE com­pa­nies have teamed up to ad­dress an IT skills short­age in their area through the launch of a higher level ap­pren­tice­ship.

The firms in Mid-ul­ster, the north west and north Antrim hope that the earn as you learn Ca­reer En­code ap­pren­tice­ship will in­crease the pool of IT pro­fes­sion­als.

Work­ing with North­ern Re­gional Col­lege, the nine com­pa­nies will of­fer jobs to school leavers and ca­reer chang­ers, en­abling them to get an in­ter­na­tion­ally recog­nised foun­da­tion de­gree from Ul­ster Univer­sity.

The firms are Spe­cial­ist Join­ery Group and FP Mccann in Maghera, Bloc Blinds in Magher­afelt, CDE Global and Mal­lon Tech­nol­ogy in Cook­stown, Kil­rea-based Acorn IT So­lu­tions, Spa­tialest in Col­eraine, Ran­dox in Crum­lin and SDC Trail­ers in Toome­bridge. It’s thought to be the first time firms have teamed up to launch an ap­pren­tice­ship.
