Belfast group wins UK social enterprise award
BELFAST social enterprise Now Group has won a Uk-wide award for its learning difficulty initiative, now used by more than 13,00 people.
The JAM (just a minute) Card initiative won the Tech for Good Award at the UK Social Enterprise Awards in London last week. Created by NOW Group participants with learning difficulties and autism who wanted a discreet way of asking for Just A Minute of patience in a customer service situation, the card has also been developed into an app for smartphones.
Maeve Monaghan, chief executive of Now Group, said: “We are thrilled that the JAM Card has been recognised with a national award. It was our participants who came up with the idea and it is having a significant impact on the lives of many.”
