Fake tan

Make-up Masterclass

Belfast Telegraph - Weekend - - BEAUTY & FITNESS - Paddy McGurgan is one of NI’s best-known beauty experts and every week he’ll tell you all you need to know about the latest make-up techniques

If you are anything like most of the Makeup Pro store team, me included, you just cannot tan naturally. The easy alternative is to use a fake tan for a quick, bronzed goddess look. I have to admit, I have used a few tans, but most of my interactions have been with clients and brides-to-be. So here are my top tanning products to use this summer to look bronzed and beautiful.

First up is one product I have tried myself: Lusso Tan. I love how much emphasis this brand places on the preparation before and during your tanning routine.

Step 1: use Lusso Tan’s primer (£14.99, House of Fraser/Makeup Pro Store) . This plumps and conditions your skin to give the ideal canvas for your tan.

Step 2: use the carefully designed Lusso Tan (£19.50), which will give you the glow of a natural golden tan.

Step 3: use Lusso Tan’s Finishing Touch skin perfector (£14.50), which will result in an exceptional polished look.

What I love most about this product is how natural the final look is, so I believe this tan would be perfect for someone who enjoys colour but also looking natural during hot summer days.

Another amazing self tan available on the market at the moment is Bbold Tan. The BBold Xtra Dark Mousse (£14.95) is formulated to improve skin moisture levels in just two hours, providing hydration for a healthy, natural-looking, extra-dark glow.

This is perfect for anyone wanting a super quick, strong night-time glow.

Next up is a tan I have used myself, and I have to say I love its final glow: Insanity Tan.

A range of shades is available and the company even has a Bridal Tan for perfect colour on your special day. I recommend trying the Insanity Light Bronzing Mousse (£18) as the colour is beautiful and you can build your colour if you like.

Social media influencer Suzanne Jackson-O’Connor has released her own tanning range, SOSU By Suzanne Jackson. Her Dripping Gold Luxury Tanning Mousse (£19.95) comes in a range of shades and tones to suit everyone.

I have not tried this product, but from reviews posted online and from my Make-up Pro Store team, it is an absolute hit.

Finally, Brendan McDowell from BPerfect Cosmetics dropped by the store recently and kindly asked us to try out his latest self tan, the BPerfect Cosmetics 10 second Tan in Ultra Dark (£19.99).

This tan is developed with aloe vera and has soft notes of mango. The tan is said to be suitable for face and body, however coming from a make-up background I am a ‘no tan on face’ advocate. When I tried this product, I really loved how instant it was — it is simply perfect for anyone with a last-minute event or who needs a glow in a hurry.
