Belfast Telegraph - Weekend - - BEAUTY -

With the colder weather well and truly here, we are all feeling more skin conscious and it really is the perfect time to embrace your pale skin. This week I’m focusing on my top foundations for anyone wishing to find the perfect pale shade.

When choosing a foundation shade, always try before you buy. Any make-up artist or beauty counter assistant will always be able to try a foundation on you so that you can be satisfied with buying the correct colour. I always recommend to look at the foundation on the skin in both natural and unnatural light and make sure your neckline and face match perfectly.

My first recommendation for a paler foundation is Bobbi Brown’s Long-Wear Even Finish Foundation, £32.50. This is a medium to full coverage foundation that contains an oil-free formula and so it’s ideal for wearing all day long.

I also recommend Clinique Superbalanced Silk Make-up SPF 15, £25.50. This is a skin balancing foundation with an ultra-thin texture and SPF protection that leaves skin looking flawless yet feeling naked, with a dewy glow. It is very lightweight foundation, so if you are like full coverage, then I would say this foundation is not for you. However, if you love a medium to low coverage then enjoy the great shade range available here.

For a full coverage foundation with a brilliant shade range, I love Make-up Studio Face It Light Cream Foundation, £27.50 This is a cream-based foundation which adds coverage to the skin and is perfect for all skin types, but is most ideal for normal, dry or combination skin.

My favourite bargain pale foundation is The Ordinary Coverage Foundation, £6. This foundation is available in 21 shades and is suitable for all skin tones. Rich and buildable, this cream-like texture smooths seamlessly over skin to conceal and disguise fine lines and wrinkles.

Another of my favourite foundation ranges available to buy at the moment is Kat Von D’s Lock it Liquid Foundation, £27. I adore Kat Von D — both her make-up range and herself as an artist. Her Lock it foundation is so full coverage and really accommodates pale skin — she too is a porcelain beauty. The foundation is so pigmented and full coverage, so a little really will go a long way. If your skin is more combination or oily then it is always best to choose a matte finish foundation. I recently tried out the Wet n Wild Photo Focus Foundation, £6. I loved how matte this foundation was when I applied it to the skin. Although there are only six shades, the pale shades are still quite compatible and they mix really well together so you can blend and build you own tone for complete complexion perfection.

Finally, Maybelline Fit Me Matte & Poreless Foundation 115 Ivory, £6.99, has taken over social media at the moment. I know of so many make-up artists who swear by this foundation for oily or combination skin types. This range has nearly 45 shades which is amazing for anyone wanting to get a new foundation — and for a make-up artist to add to their kit.
