Belfast Deaf target semi-final place
FRESH from their superb 4-1 victory over Arsenal Deaf in last month’s second round tie, Belfast Deaf United entertain Sunderland in the British Deaf cup quarter-finals at Seaview tomorrow (3pm, admission free).
Belfast Deaf have emerged into a real force at this level, winning historic back-to-back UK deaf football titles in 2010/11 and 2011/12 but Sunderland will be afforded respect, given their 3-1 success over Cardiff.
Belfast Deaf can count on a range of established stars to spearhead their efforts. Conor Mervyn and Roy Keating are top-class goalkeepers and the defence of skipper Roy McKee, Richard Dougherty, Noel O'Donnell, Stuart Foy and Eoghan Fee have proven International quality.
Midfielders Barry Campbell and Eamon Byrne have also developed a prolific partnership.
