Ireland’s U16 girls are off to Dusseldorf

IRELAND’S Under-16 girls are involved in a top-level Three Nations tournament against Germany and the Netherlands in Dusseldorf this weekend.

Four Ulster players are included in the squad — Aimee Christie (Victoria Coll), Charlotte Beggs (Rainey), Kate Craig (Ballymena Acad) and Jenna McCarlie (Larne Grammar).

The Irish youngsters kick off with games against their German hosts on Friday and Saturday before meeting the Dutch on Sunday.

Elsewhere, an Ulster U14 selection, coached by Joel Cathcart and Alex Speers, are off to the Netherlands to take part in the Holland Elite Hockey Cup.

They face Belgium, Netherlands and Spain and play five 40-minute group games on Friday and Saturday before two classification games on Sunday.
