Ire­land’s U16 girls are off to Dus­sel­dorf

IRE­LAND’S Un­der-16 girls are in­volved in a top-level Three Na­tions tour­na­ment against Ger­many and the Nether­lands in Dus­sel­dorf this week­end.

Four Ul­ster play­ers are in­cluded in the squad — Aimee Christie (Vic­to­ria Coll), Char­lotte Beggs (Rainey), Kate Craig (Bal­ly­mena Acad) and Jenna McCar­lie (Larne Gram­mar).

The Ir­ish young­sters kick off with games against their Ger­man hosts on Fri­day and Satur­day be­fore meet­ing the Dutch on Sun­day.

Else­where, an Ul­ster U14 se­lec­tion, coached by Joel Cath­cart and Alex Speers, are off to the Nether­lands to take part in the Hol­land Elite Hockey Cup.

They face Bel­gium, Nether­lands and Spain and play five 40-minute group games on Fri­day and Satur­day be­fore two clas­si­fi­ca­tion games on Sun­day.
