Youths held af­ter death of teen boy

FIVE teenagers have been ar­rested on sus­pi­cion of drugs of­fences fol­low­ing the death of a 17-yearold boy in England.

Paramedics dis­cov­ered the youth un­con­scious af­ter be­ing called to Old School Lane and the junc­tion of Kingsway in Here­ford at about 3am yes­ter­day.

The am­bu­lance ser­vice said it trans­ported the pa­tient to Here­ford County Hos­pi­tal, where he later died.

West Mer­cia Po­lice said it had ar­rested five boys from the lo­cal area — four of them aged 17 and one 16-year-old — as its of­fi­cers con­tinue to in­ves­ti­gate the cir­cum­stances.

Po­lice were alerted at 4.15am and the young­ster’s death is cur­rently be­ing treated as un­ex­plained.

A West Mid­lands Am­bu­lance Ser­vice spokesman said: “We were called at 2.58am to re­ports of an un­con­scious pa­tient.

“One am­bu­lance at­tended the scene. We found one pa­tient, a male, who was trans­ported to Here­ford County Hos­pi­tal.”
