Cummings regains WBO European belt

- BY DAVID KELLY

JONATHAN BRADLEY IN LLANELLI CONRAD Cummings last night regained the WBO European middleweight title with a solid, unanimous points victory over Hungarian Ferenc Berki at the Titantic Exhibition Centre in Belfast.

The Coalisland man lost the title after a poor performance in April against Dubliner Luke Keeler, who was subsequently stripped of the belt. On the back of two comfortable wins, Cummings proved too good for Berki who was dropped in the 10th and final round.

“I’m looking forward to an exciting 2019,” said a jubilant Cummings, who won 98-91, 95-94 and 99-90.

“I’ve settled in very well now with my new trainer Jamie Moore and things are starting to come together. I’ve been working very hard in the gym and it’s paying off.”

Having picked up the WBO’s version of the European title Cummings will now expect to enter the governing body’s world ranking inside the top 15.
