Woman and man are held over vi­o­lent flat bur­glary

TWO peo­ple have been ar­rested by po­lice in­ves­ti­gat­ing an ag­gra­vated bur­glary in Co Antrim.

A 25-year-old man suf­fered cuts to his head and a sus­pected frac­tured wrist when he was as­saulted by two males and a fe­male who forced their way into his flat in Bur­neys Mews, New­town­abbey, around 7.30pm on Fri­day.

Po­lice said a 21-year-old woman and 33-year-old man were ar­rested in the New­town­abbey area on Satur­day night on sus­pi­cion of ag­gra­vated bur­glary.

SDLP coun­cil­lor Noreen McClel­land said the bur­glary was “ap­palling”, adding: “Ev­ery­one should have the right to feel safe in their own home. Those who car­ried out this at­tack have no place in this so­ci­ety.”

De­tec­tives ap­pealed for wit­nesses or those with in­for­ma­tion on the in­ci­dent to con­tact them in Antrim on 101, quot­ing ref­er­ence 1114 11/01/19.
