Lawyer calls for new Michaela murder inquiry
A SOLICITOR who defended one of the men acquitted in the Michaela McAreavey (right) murder trial in 2012 has joined calls for police in Mauritius to reinvestigate the case. Mrs McAreavey, daughter of Tyrone GAA manager Mickey Harte, was murdered while on honeymoon in 2011. Sanjeev Teeluckdharry, who represented one of the men cleared, said: “The police made catastrophic failures. We asked the authorities during the trial to restart a new inquiry. A new inquiry should happen.”
