Stacey’s WEDDING JITTERS

Having postponed their big day before, could it be off for good?

-

She’s been dreaming of her wedding day for a long time, but Stacey Solomon recently expressed some doubts about her upcoming nuptials to fiancé Joe Swash. The couple, who got engaged in December 2020, are planning to get married this summer, having delayed their wedding day from last year.

Stacey, 32, poked fun at her husbandto-be earlier this month when she caught him in his boxers, trying to dry his trousers by the fire after an accident with their baby daughter Rose. “The baby weed on me, didn’t she?” Joe explained. The Loose Women star, who’s set to return to the show after enjoying three months of maternity leave, replied, “We have got a tumble dryer, you know? Why are you there?” before adding, “Sometimes I honestly do question whether I should go ahead with our wedding.”

She also recently said that he was more preoccupied with playing video games than with concern for her wellbeing after he forgot to bring her a drink while she was feeding three-month-old baby Rose.

It’s emerged, too, that Stacey wants Joe, who turns 40 this week, to sign a prenuptial agreement to protect her reported £5million fortune. “I’ve been working a lot more than him lately and he has held down the home and the family. It’s definitely something we would discuss, but our finances are already separate,” she said. The mum of four said on Loose Women last year, “I do feel that prenups are sensible if you feel that you need them in place.

I don’t think it makes you necessarily question your relationship. Anything can happen, so it’s best to have stuff in place. It’s practical.”

It comes as little surprise that Stacey is very savvy when it comes to finances, with the former X Factor star having made her fortune from TV work and endorsement deals over the past 12 years. Joe has been declared bankrupt twice – once in 2009 and then in 2013. “I was young, silly and irresponsible. I got into Eastenders and was irresponsible with money,” he has said. “I was chucking it away on stuff I didn’t need. I went out every night and had a house with a mortgage. The second time it happened, I was on TV and I felt embarrassed and wondered how I managed to get myself into the situation.” An insider told heat magazine, “There’s absolutely no doubt that Joe credits Stacey with saving him and helping him with his money issues. Stacey has always had her head screwed on when it

comes to business – she’s very clever with her money and how she invests it. She works really hard, too. Not to say that Joe isn’t a hard worker, but Stacey is no fool and there’s no way she would let herself go under if Joe had another financial slip-up – and that’s why she prefers to keep their finances separate. She’s also discussing a prenup because she has a considerably larger fortune than he does and she’d be stupid not to protect herself.”

Stacey, who prides herself on her money-saving tricks and tips, and has a range with Primark, was shocked and horrified in September 2020 when Joe splashed out £50k on a custombuilt camper van. She initially dubbed the vehicle, which has a mini-kitchen, oven and fridge, a “monstrosity”, saying, “I knew once he’d got this idea in his head it was inevitable. I didn’t realise how soon, though.”

Stacey and Joe are planning to get hitched in their spacious garden at Pickle Cottage in July. The couple, who have been together since 2015, had been busy planning their dream day, with Stacey revealing that she had found her wedding dress. However, their plans were put on hold when she got pregnant with Rose last year. They also have son Rex, two, together within their blended family, which includes her sons Zachary, 13, and Leighton, nine, from two previous relationships, and Joe’s son Harry, 13. “We would love… if all goes well, but we would love to get married in July next year. It will be so nice to have the boys and Rose there,” she said last month.

With pre-wedding jitters a natural stage for many brides, let’s hope that Stacey will get over any doubts within the coming six months as she prepares to become Mrs Swash.
