No ‘recovering’ for Harry & Meghan

-

They had dreamt of being a force for change, but Harry and Meghan have instead become the “laughing stock” of Hollywood after being mocked on South Park. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are said to be “upset” and “overwhelmed” after they found themselves the object of ridicule in recent episode The Worldwide Privacy Tour, leading to concerns they may struggle to “recover” their reputation.

In the show, the Prince of Canada and his wife – who are not identified as Harry and Meghan, but bear a resemblance to them – move to the US seeking privacy. “We just want to be normal people. All this attention is so hard,” the royal said. But instead of laying low, the Prince – described as a “royal prince, millionaire, world traveller, victim” – appears on a TV chat show to promote his book Waaagh. He is joined by his wife, who’s branded “sorority girl, actress, influencer and victim”, and the couple march around, holding placards saying, “We want our privacy” and “Stop looking at us”.

American presenter Megyn Kelly said, “I feel this is a pronouncement that they have jumped the shark, they are not beloved and her reported hopes of running for President are all but dashed. When South Park turns on you, there’s no recovering.” One critic said the couple “could not have imagined being made a laughing stock by the cult cartoon”, while royal commentator Neil Sean claimed Harry and Meghan are “casting an eye” over the animated sitcom to see if there’s potential to sue the show’s makers. “According to sources close to the exroyals, it appears this may have legal ramifications attached,” he said.
