Hundreds head out for Wayfaring

A bright idea by a local mum has seen her celebrating publication of her first book – a children’s Windsor souvenir and tourist guide. Karen Appleton hosted a launch event at Foggs, Daniels of Windsor’s travel themed family restaurant.

‘Discover Windsor with The Garden Friends in The Changing of the Guard’ has colourful illustrations, a bright and simple map that encourages exploration, and a story set in the town, so children discover Windsor in a unique way.

Karen says: “It feels incredible to be able to launch a book, especially one that is about my home town. This wouldn’t have been possible without support from my family, and at my age I feel so much more confident about having a go!”

She set up her own company, Tot Map and Tales Ltd, to publish the guide. It’s full of questions from ‘Where did Harry and Meghan get married?’ to ‘Is there a play park nearby?. The answers are provided in the adventures of five characters who cause a hullabaloo around the guards. The book is available to buy from a variety of shops in Windsor, as well as online, see totmapandtales.co.uk.
