The perfect retreat all year round

Berkshire Life - - This Month -

If you haven’t seen the stunning Thames Lido yet, make this the month you do.

It’s the result of a three-year restoration project of the Edwardian Kings Meadow baths at Reading, undertaken by the team behind Bristol Lido.

There’s no doubt that the Lido has been a stunning addition to Reading. As well as the 25m heated outdoor pool it has a bar and restaurant as well as spa facilities.

Reading Civic Society was recently delighted when it was announced at the offices of architects Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners, that the project had won the Highly Commended Award in the Civic Voice’s Design Awards 2018 – Historic Buildings Category.

In this it was judged equally with the restoration of Turner’s House in Twickenham. The Civic Voice Design Awards, now in their fourth year, are the “people’s choice”; projects are submitted for consideration by members of local communities and societies rather than members of the architectural profession.
