Berkshire Life - - Local Christmas -

Did you know that Windsor Farm Shop stocks meat reared on their very own Royal Farms? The shop opened its doors to the public on 11th November 2001, selling everything from Royal beef to locally brewed ales.

The Royal Estate at Windsor operates as a mixed farm. This includes 200 pedigree Jersey milking cows, a pedigree Sussex beef herd, 140 breeding sows, 1,500 Lohmann Brown hens, 1,000 acres of arable land and 2,000 acres of grassland mainly used to feed livestock. They’ve been providing the meat for the shop ever since opening with meat reared on the Crown Estate and private Home Park. All their beef, lamb and pork have been naturally fed and are traceable to the farms where they have been reared.

Perfect wrapped in bacon on Christmas Day, the shop’s own sausages are made from the Royal Farms pork − great for lunch, or even better forming part of Boxing Day’s hearty breakfast. windsor
