DAVID DICKINSON ON...
…his new show, Name Your Price It’s an entertainment show, but with antiques. There are some elements of game shows from the 80s – it’s a bit ‘roast beef but different gravy’. It’s fun and cheeky.
…how he got his nickname, ‘The Duke’
It goes back to early
Bargain Hunt days – I was popular with students as it was on at the time they fell out of bed. Because of my sartorial style – suited and booted – they’d say, ‘It’s the Duke!’ But I have all sorts of fans. Teeny ones, ones in their 20s and some silver-haired ones, too.
…his wife, Lorne
We’ve been married for 38 years. We’ve got two children and grandchildren, too, now. My son’s little lad came onto Big Star’s Little Star with me and they tried to get him to blow the gaff on me using fake tan – but I don’t, this is all natural. I’m olive-skinned and I try to get a few holidays in.
…whether he’d do Celebrity Big Brother
Never say never! I’m an old tart. Pay me, and I could wind up anywhere. I am 75 now, and I look at this as a wonderful way to make a very lucrative living. I say, ‘Blooming hell, Dave, you’ve been lucky, mate.’
