Daddy’s girl! Harper and David’s special bond
The youngest of the Beckham brood shares a very special connection with her dad…
The Beckhams may be football and fashion royalty, but they also come across as a genuinely close-knit family, and there’s one bond in particular we just can’t get enough of…
And if you haven’t guessed by now, we’re talking about David and his little girl, sixyear-old Harper.
Only last week, mum Victoria shared a hilarious Instagram video of Harper donning a humungous face mask of her famous dad!
Already close to his boys – Brooklyn, 19, Romeo, 15, and Cruz, 13 – David was overjoyed on 11 July 2011 when Harper was born.
Six years and many ridiculously cute photos later, Harper Seven (the ‘Seven’ comes from David’s ‘ lucky’ shirt number when he played for Manchester United) has already followed in her dad’s sporty footsteps.
The ex-footballer, who admits he’s ‘powerless when it comes to Harper’, has been teaching his daughter some serious skills – and he’s broadcasted them for all to see on social media.
And Becks’s 40 million Instagram followers – and counting – have been quick to acknowledge Harper’s talent.
‘Definitely has her father’s skills, go girl!’ said one, while another added, ‘She has a good kick, England lady footballer coming up.’
Though both her dad and brothers adore Harper’s love of the sport – with eldest sibling Brooklyn describing her as the ‘Soccer Sister’ – Posh isn’t thrilled.
In 2015, the fashion designer explained, ‘She loves sports, and said to me the other day, “Mummy, I want to play football.” Dagger through the heart!’
Young Harper is clearly adored by both parents, but there’s no question it’s her dad she’s really got wrapped around her little finger!
Last year, Becks confessed he was a soft touch where his little girl is concerned, saying, ‘I love all my children equally, of course. But, I am definitely stricter with the boys than I am with Harper.’
And Harper is already taking care of her old man. When the 43-year-old asked her to explain what she was doing in a sweet clip uploaded in April, she responded, ‘I’m washing Daddy’s hair!’
We can’t wait to see how they spend this Father’s Day together. Will Harper dedicate a drawing to her dad or will the pair enjoy a game of footy?
