Johnny Depp’s shock appearance has fans fearing for his health
Crowned Sexiest Man Alive by People magazine twice, Hollywood heartthrob Johnny Depp was famed for his chiselled cheekbones and olive complexion.
But the actor sparked widespread concern last week, as pictures emerged of him looking emaciated and ill.
On tour in Russia with his band Hollywood Vampires, fans were shocked by his gaunt appearance. They were quick to take to social media, commenting, ‘Is he ill?’ and ‘Hope he’s OK.’
Johnny has never been a role model for healthy living. It’s no secret that the Kentucky-born star, who famously dated Kate Moss in the 90s, drinks heavily, smokes and has experimented with drugs. He said in 2008, ‘Pretty much any drug you can name, I’ve done it.’
So are his unhealthy habits finally catching up with him, or is something else going on?
He certainly seems to have had a stressful month. He was allegedly involved in a meltdown on the set of his new film, City Of Lies, last month.
He’s also had to deal with various legal problems, including being sued by his own former bodyguards, for ‘unpaid wages’ – amid claims they had to protect the actor ‘against himself’.
But if Johnny’s had the month from hell, you couldn’t exactly call the past few years a walk in the park, either. Could it be that all the stress has got on top of him?
After their split in 2016, he was accused of domestic violence by ex-wife, Amber Heard, 32, – an accusation he has denied – and tumultuous legal wrangles followed.
The pair were officially divorced last January.
Last summer, Johnny played a man living with a terminal illness in the upcoming movie Richard Says Goodbye. Some onlookers have suggested he has lost weight to reshoot extra material for the film.
Whatever way you look at it, it’s hard to reconcile images of the actor today with the 80s pin-up who pouted down from millions of bedroom walls. We hope Johnny is soon back to his handsome best.
