Stunning Susanna: Secrets of the star’s hot new body
Good Morning Britain presenter Susanna Reid reveals weight-loss secrets
She looked better than ever when she returned to Good Morning Britain after a late summer break, and now Susanna Reid has opened up to best about her incredible weight loss.
The TV presenter revealed that the lightbulb moment came when her doctor had suggested she lose some weight in order to achieve a healthier body mass index (BMI) – the scale used to calculate a person’s ideal weight based on their height.
‘It was a combination of factors, but a doctor said I was at the top end of my BMI,’ she admitted, when quizzed about her decision to shift a few excess pounds. ‘He said it might benefit me if I lost a little weight.’
The newly svelte star, who has shed a stone after ditching the booze, told best that she decided to give up alcohol for one month in a bid to tone up – and it’s even helped her feel more alert when bickering with co-host Piers Morgan!
‘Giving up drinking has given me loads more energy, and I feel kind of fresher,’ she told us. ‘I’ve been able to deal with Piers much better! I just decided that it might be good for me.’
Susanna, 47, showed off the fruits of her labour at the recent National Reality TV Awards, where she picked up an impressive three gongs – beating Piers, 53, to win the coveted Best TV Presenter award.
‘I’m going to celebrate by having one more fizzy water, then getting a car home, getting into bed and sleeping until the alarm goes off at 4 o’clock in the morning,’ the distinctly sober star told us on the red carpet after accepting her awards. ‘It’s just non-stop glamour in my world!’ she added with a laugh.
Susanna, who said she doesn’t typically drink alcohol during the week, also revealed that she was keen to see changes in her figure. ‘I did think that I wanted to tone up a bit, as well as giving up the alcohol,’ she continued. ‘In my job, you’re constantly fighting tiredness.
‘ You’re getting up so early, and you’re never quite getting enough sleep the night before. Obviously, I’m going into battle – it feels like – every morning. So I thought that maybe losing a couple of pounds and dropping the drink might help, and it has.’
Too right. You’re looking great, Susanna!
