What are your most treasured Christmas memories? With my dad, looking for Santa and his sleigh in the sky. Looking up at the stars, he’d say, ‘I can see Father Christmas! Can you?’ He’d always wake me the next morning and go, ‘Has he been?!’ This continued until I was 32, lying there with a hangover.

Do your girls love it?

Charley’s 16 and Bonnie’s 11, so yes, but not like when they were little – they’d totally bubble over with excitement!

You lost your mum, Cathie, in August, after your dad, Duncan, last February. That’s tough...

It is. I take each day at a time. I’ll remember last Christmas. It was the final one with Mum, which I didn’t know at the time. It wasn’t easy, she wasn’t well but, in retrospect, it will always be special.

What are your plans for this year’s festivities?

For the first time we’re going to a restaurant. We always headed to Mum’s after opening presents, so I’ll go for a nice walk with my dog and take Mum some flowers. You can be happy and sad at the same time, I’ve learned. We’ll have a happy, sad day. And that’s OK.

Any plans to celebrate with the Loose Women?

There’s a Secret Santa, but I’m more excited about the party that Jane Moore’s hosting. We’re ordering a takeaway, and having a girlie night in. Hopefully, a boozy one!

What would your dream present be?

My husband, Ian, can be quite inventive. I’ve had a piano stool, roller blades… but luckily, I have enough ‘stuff’. Ian is sensible in not booking me any surprises, as I’d need to know every detail – I’d be a nightmare!
