Defiant Loose Woman Saira Khan is braving far more than a wardrobe malfunction or a nasty tumble as she takes part in skating show Dancing On Ice.
Horrifyingly, the TV presenter expects death threats from extremists who disapprove of a woman from a Muslim background wearing the figure-hugging costumes.
But the 48-year-old is undeterred, and has vowed not to let the regular criticism she receives get to her during her time on the show.
‘It’s very easy for people to criticise. I’m of Asian descent, I have cultural and religious barriers,’ she explained. ‘All my life, I’ve been told, “You can’t do that because you can’t wear that. You can’t say that because you’re a woman.” It’s hard, but I’m just there to say, “I’m going to do it.”’ Sadly, the mum-of-two has received death threats once before. In August 2017, she posted a racy holiday bikini snap, alongside a caption slamming a female Muslim preacher who had decreed it was ‘sinful’ for women to pluck their eyebrows. In response, an anonymous Instagram user posted the comment, ‘If you value your life, keep the f*** out of Islam.’ Saira reported the comment to the police. Yet, in typical fiery fashion, the BritishPakistani star revealed that the scary episode only made her want to wear more revealing clothing. It’ll clearly take a lot more than a few sick individuals to keep this woman down – or tell her what to wear!
