OUT AND ABOUT
COLETTE
This biopic tells the story of revered French novelist Colette (exquisitely played by Keira Knightley), whose first fictional creation, saucy schoolgirl Claudine, was a huge sensation in France in 1900 and became a merchandising goldmine. Pressured to write by her charismatic husband, Willy (Dominic West), Colette lets him take the credit for Claudine until his infidelities and financial betrayals drive her to leave him (for a woman) and reclaim her authorship. The fascinating film follows Colette up until 1906, and brings the sensuous world of Belle Epoque Paris and its personal intrigues vividly to life. ★★★★ ★
