This week’s must-see TV

-

1 Magnum PI WEDNESDAY, SKY ONE AND NOW TV, 9PM

Remember Magnum PI, the 80s comedy action series set in sun-kissed Hawaii and featuring Tom Selleck as the security consultant with a sideline in private detection? Well, it’s been given a reboot. We return to the island but, this time, we are firmly in the present day. Thomas Magnum is now played by Suicide Squad star Jay Hernandez, who also has a nice line in Hawaiian shirts and lives on the estate of millionaire author Robyn Masters – just like in the original. He runs a detective agency with his pals, Rick, TC and Higgins. Though, in this version, Higgins is a posh, glamorous British former M16 officer – and a woman to boot. As you’d expect from the director of The Fast And The Furious, there’s plenty of action to enjoy here, along with lively banter and yes, even a dash of romance.

2 Most Haunted FRIDAY, REALLY, 9PM

Yvette Fielding and her ghost-busting team continue their search for things that go bump in the night, as they return for a new series of scares. The 10 episodes include some of their most chilling experiences yet – set in some seriously spooky locations.

3 Banged Up: Bad Girls Behind Bars THURSDAY, CHANNEL 5, 10PM

This fly-on-the-wall series takes you behind the scenes of one of America’s toughest women’s prisons. The inmates we meet include notorious gang member Baby D, who considers herself the prison’s top dog, and mum-to-be and drug addict Vanessa, desperate to hang on to her baby having lost custody of all her other children.

4 Love Your Home And Garden TUESDAY, ITV, 8PM

NEW SERIES Alan Titchmarsh brings his magic green fingers and a host of practical pals to help transform the living spaces for families who need a helping hand. The series kicks off in Swindon, where they transform the garden of wheelchair-users Steve and Nina Parry so their kids can play outside.

5 The Graham Norton Show FRIDAY, BBC ONE, 10PM

There’s no better way to wind the week down than joining Graham as he welcomes stars to his sofa. This week, he meets actresses Laura Linney and Saoirse Ronan, as well as Timothée Chalamet, talking about his powerful new drama, Beautiful Boy.
