1 Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again SKY AND NOW TV

How can you resist it? The sequel to the powerhouse musical featuring the songs of Abba is just as fun and fabulous as the first one. Return to Kalokairi, the sun-drenched Greek paradise, to meet old pals Meryl Streep, Colin Firth, Pierce Brosnan, Stellan Skarsgård and Julie Walters. Both a prequel and sequel to the original movie, it is set after the events of the first film, but also has flashbacks to 1979, telling the story of Donna’s arrival on the island and her first meeting with daughter Sophie’s three potential dads. New additions to the cast include Lily James as young Donna, Andy Garcia and the one and only Cher.

2 The Bletchley Circle: San Francisco FRIDAY, 9PM, ITV

NEW SERIES Having cracked the codes that helped win the Second World War, the ladies of Bletchley have turned to solving murders. Jean and Millie travel to the US to meet their American counterpar­ts and investigat­e a grisly killing. Classy drama starring Julie Graham and Rachael Stirling.

NEW SERIES Uma Thurman stars as a grieving mother in this spooky psychologi­cal horror set in Arizona. A woman who has received a heart transplant starts to investigat­e the truth about the donor’s death, only to find she is taking on some of the dead woman’s creepier characteri­stics.

4 Old Wife, New Wife WEDNESDAY, 9PM, CHANNEL 5

NEW SERIES What will they think of next when it comes to relationsh­ip documentar­ies? Watch – in horror, possibly – as a couple move in with the man’s ex to try to iron out their difference­s. In this first episode, Cyren and Meaghan shack up with Laura to see if they can all come to a new understand­ing.

5 John Bishop’s Ireland FRIDAY, 8PM, ITV

NEW SERIES The twinkly-eyed Liverpudli­an comic travels to the Emerald Isle for a 600-mile road trip around stunning countrysid­e, enjoying the warm hospitalit­y on offer. Along the way, he gets to perform his own brand of comedy, in venues ranging from a pokey pub in Limerick to the biggest stage in Ireland.
