Love Island: We need to talk about Maura
Love her or loathe her, Irish ring girl Maura Higgins is the talk of the Love Island villa
Whether you tune in every night or are determined to never watch an episode of the sizzling Love Island… it seems everybody this year has heard of Irish beauty, Maura Higgins.
Even Hollywood star Amy Schumer is following Maura’s every move – gushing recently in a special pre-recorded message for Love Island: Aftersun, ‘I want to give a shout out to Maura... she’s just like my homie, I feel very connected to her.’
At times, the feisty 28-yearold has been slammed for attempting to ‘steal’ other contestants’ men, then praised for her confidence (she’s been labelled a ‘feminist’ by comedian Katherine Ryan!)
– but at no point since she entered the famous reality TV villa, have we stopped discussing the stunning girl.
Prior to her Love Island debut as a latecomer, Maura insisted she would go after what she wants – and she hasn’t disappointed. ‘I’d go extreme. It can obviously be hard, because you could be really close with one of the girls, but you’re in there to find love at the end of the day.’
The stunning brunette shocked from the start when it came to fancying Tommy Fury, 20, (already coupled with fellow contestant Molly-Mae Hague), as she let slip numerous innuendos towards the young boxer, even attempting ( but failing) to kiss him.
When her brazen bid to steal Molly’s man didn’t work out, she turned her gaze – in what is Maura’s most controversial move to date – to Curtis, 23, after he publicly humiliated his former ‘ halfgirlfriend’ Amy Hart.
Maura sent the professional ballroom dancer’s heart racing with her sexy moves and even went in for a kiss.
But could new boy Chris Taylor, 28, turn her head after she was forced to couple up with him? Although we can’t see Maura losing Curtis to Francesca Allen, 23, without a fight.
It appears the County Longford beauty is more than happy to put friendships aside in a bid to find her ‘perfect man’, but is it all part of a higher plan to stay in the show – and get famous quick?
Whatever your thoughts on her motivations, you can be sure Maura is delighted by all the attention she’s getting! l Love Island continues weeknights and Sundays at 9pm on ITVBe.
‘You’re in there to find love, at the end of the day…’
