I’M WORRIED ABOUT MY PREGNANT PAL

My friend has never expressed a maternal side, nor ever said she wanted kids. But she’s been with a much younger man for a year or so and now, aged 49, is pregnant with her first child! She’s not in great health – she has diabetes, is overweight and I’m worried a newborn at her age will be too much for her. I also question if she’s done this for the right reasons. I worry she is only going through with it to make her man happy. That is not a wise thing to do. All her friends are pretty shocked about it – she never even told us

Shouldn’t you be celebrating a little miracle instead of sounding off about the fact that you didn’t think she had a maternal instinct? Rally round. Be supportive and yank yourself out of all that mud you are stuck in. People change and move on. She’s ready for a new phase of her life. Don’t even think about holding her back – be that positive friend!
