Amanda’s shame
When it comes to her personal life, nothing is too private for Amanda Holden...
Remember that scene in the film Bridesmaids, when Kristen Wiig realised that, when you have to go, you just have to go? Well, Amanda Holden knows that feeling only too well, as she admitted recently… on TV.
Amanda has never been backwards in coming forward, so it’s par for the course that she feels no shame about her loss of control. It was while she was on a booze cruise to Calais for the ITV2 show Shopping With Keith Lemon that Keith asked, ‘Have you ever got so drunk you’ve c***ped your pants?’
Keith probably wasn’t expecting Amanda to respond with a story about how she did once lose control of her bowels! Although, in her defence, she had a ‘funny tummy’ at the time.
But it should come as no surprise that Amanda, 48, would be happy to share this story on TV, as she is famous for her lack of filter. Indeed, it is something that her husband, music executive Chris Hughes, has had to learn to live with.
‘Much to my husband’s dismay, I confess something to a newspaper by accident, or on Twitter. I have no more secrets because of social media and life in general,’ Amanda said recently.
‘Obviously, there are personal things that I wouldn’t broadcast, but I regret saying things every week – and Chris puts me on the naughty step. He says, “I can’t believe you would say that, Mandy.”’
Other embarrassing confessions? She has a ‘magic box’ of sex toys (revealed while hosting ITV’s Lorraine); she and Chris get passionate in front of the TV while watching box sets; Chris has a plaster cast of her pre-baby bottom; and her ex-husband, Les Dennis, used to do his impression of Mavis Riley from Corrie while they were in bed.
But Amanda claims she can’t help being indiscreet because it runs in her family. ‘My mum is very similar… and my gran. We are very gobby,’ she has said.
She also commented, ‘God, what haven’t I confessed? There should be a show, “What Amanda hasn’t told us.” It’d be one second long. I’m just too honest for my own good, and I definitely think with my heart and not my head. There’s probably not much that everyone doesn’t already know about me.’
