Why the long face, Victoria? Have the Beckhams lost their sparkle?

She may be a fashion designer, supermum and married to one of the bestlooking men in the land, but Mrs Beckham may not be feeling festive this Christmas…

-

These days, Victoria Beckham is known more for her fashion label than her Posh girlband days. But financial reports of late can’t have made for easy reading. It seems the 45-year-old’s business has lost millions since its launch in 2008, and profits last year alone dropped £12.3 million.

Fans may well label her ‘a true fashion icon’, and celebrities are regularly draped in her designs – but business partners can be hard-nosed, and reports say VB’s global business has lost around £42 million in total. If that’s not something that’s going to dim your Christmas sparkle, we don’t know what is.

Just this January, Victoria’s footballing legend hubby, David, 44, reportedly bailed out his wife’s company with a £23 million cash injection – ouch.

That said, Brand Beckham isn’t in what you would call an unhealthy state. Victoria and David were recently still ranked 372 on this year’s Sunday Times Rich List, with a combined wealth of £355 million, and named among Britain’s 50 biggest taxpayers.

And the couple – who recently shared a cosy Instagram snap with children Brooklyn, 20, Romeo, 17, Cruz, 14, and Harper, eight, celebrating Thanksgiving – have a healthy property portfolio that includes a £31.5 million mansion in West London, a lavish £6 million country pile in the Cotswolds, and they recently sold their Mediterranean-style home in Los Angeles for more than £25 million.

We don’t think the Beckhams should be worried about the fall of their empire any time soon. Maybe all that’s needed to put a smile on Victoria’s face is a bit of retail therapy… and she’d do well to buy something from her own brand..!
