Meet This Morning’s very own Bridget Jones
Now Josie Gibson is ThisMorning’s go-to action girl presenter, we can’t help but feel there’s someone she reminds us of…
She’s a blonde, bubbly, slightly accident-prone TV presenter who doesn’t always get it right on air. Anyone who has been watching Josie Gibson’s hilarious turns on ThisMorning might be forgiven for thinking that her presenting stints are a real-life version of Bridget Jones’ antics on the fictional daytime show SitUpBritain!
Last week saw Josie travel to Wales to try out the world’s fastest zip-wire – not an experience she will likely repeat. First of all, she started shrieking that she didn’t want to do it, before she was jettisoned, screaming, into the canyon. On the sofa, Rochelle Humes and Dermot O’Leary struggled to keep straight faces.
Back on terra firma, she said, ‘I’m just glad I’m alive, Rochelle. My feet are on the ground, what a rush.’ And, when asked what the best bit of the zip-wire was, she joked: ‘Landing.’
Josie herself quipped that she was ‘the Bridget Jones of This Morning’, doubtless recalling Bridget’s on-air action stints, which included sliding down a fireman’s pole bottom-first and revealing her famous big knickers.
Earlier in the Summer, mum-of-one Josie, 35, fell off a chair while co-presenting with Alison Hammond. After she hit the ground, she ruefully commented, ‘ Yes, I broke the chair…’
The week before, she suffered an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction with her Ghostbusters costume, causing her to have what Holly called ‘a little split’ – in an unfortunate area.
Before that, the Bristolian hinted she’d had another type of accident after trying out a super-fast rollercoaster during a segment on theme parks.
Staggering off the ride, Josie gasped, ‘I shan’t be doing that again. After having a baby, it’s quite hard to go on a rollercoaster. Does anyone know where the toilets are?’
One thing’s for sure, with Josie on screen mornings are never dull!
Good news for her fans is that we’re now seeing a lot more of her, as, along with fellow presenter Alison Hammond, she’s currently on our screens in a This Morning ‘mini travel series’, Alison and Josie’s Staycation Showdown, that sees the pair investigating quirky places to stay in the UK.
Josie and Alison, on the road? Sounds like an irresistible combination…
