DON’T WANT TO GO ABROAD

-

Ihad Covid badly over Christmas and am still suffering some longterm effects which aren’t pleasant. My husband also had the virus but, bar a bad headache for a few days, seemed to get off lightly. Now he’s obsessing that as soon as everything opens up, he wants us to be ready to book two weeks in the sun. I’m severely anxious about going abroad, even though we’ll both have had our vaccines. I want to staycation, just this year, or even simply enjoy our garden! I understand why he wants to do this, but I’m not ready. What should I do?

Talk to your GP about the protection offered by a double dose of the vaccine and explain your anxiety. They will hopefully confirm that, once you’ve had both jabs, you will have a very low chance of contracting Covid (again). Once you’ve asked all the questions you can think of and received a whole lot of very favourable and reassuring answers I think you might just feel more confident about booking a holiday abroad, the moment regulations allow. If you are still feeling unsure and nervous, perhaps this year your husband needs to be understanding and join you in that staycation. Travel abroad is incredibly uncertain, so it may not even be an option – either way, you need to amicably come to an agreement and, most importantly, wherever you go, make sure you enjoy those two weeks of R&R!
