Denise Welch broke down in tears during an episode of Loose Women, as she revealed her dad was in hospital…
Life has obviously got on top of Denise Welch lately, as the Loose Woman broke down onair, wiping her eyes as she tearfully admitted, ‘I can’t bear it any more’.
During the emotionallycharged episode, the star revealed that her dad is in hospital ‘really poorly’ – and that she’s struggling.
‘I just want to say I love you Dad,’ she blurted out.
As the panel debated how technology might be alienating the elderly, prompted by a viral picture flashed on-screen – of an old man unable to order a pint as he didn’t have a phone with the pub’s app – the star began crying and revealed, ‘My dad is in hospital in Newcastle and I just want to say, I love you Dad. It’s been really tough.’
Talking about the rise of mobile phone apps, which often create difficulties for anyone who isn’t tech-savvy, she sobbed, ‘All these things have added to the fact.
I just can’t keep up with it, I can’t bear it any more.’
Even going out for lunch, she explained, had become a technological mountain to climb for some, thanks to to Covid rules.
She said a restaurant had asked her, ‘Have you downloaded the app and printed out the guest’s invitation? I just want to go up and go: “I’m Denise Welch and my guest is Tom.”’
Of her beloved dad, Vin, 84, who she revealed in April had suffered a fall, Denise explained sadly, ‘He has really struggled in lockdown and has been really, really poorly.
‘His health has declined over the past year, he’s really struggled with not having people over to the house.’
The former Corrie star who spent her 63rd birthday by Vin’s side, is famously close to her colourful father, who would often accompany the Loose Women star to showbiz events, dressed up in drag .
He is familiar to Loose Women viewers appearing on the show in 2019 for a special parenting edition, and in 2013, dressed up as a bride for Denise’s Loose Women ‘ hen party’, before her marriage to painter Lincoln Townley.
As well as fears for her dad’s health, Denise is reported to have been left shaken after she was approached by an alleged stalker brandishing a knife outside her home recently. The matter is being investigated by the police. Little wonder, the star felt like crying!
