Love Island: The early runners and riders
LoveIsland only started on Monday, but who are the frontrunners already predicted to win the sun-soaked show?
The most highlyanticipated show of the Summer, LoveIsland – which sees a group of stunning singletons enter a Mallorcan villa, try to couple up and win the public vote – returned last night, and with it, the usual parade of stunning bikini bodies and buff physiques.
One new addition among the sexy singletons, though, was ringing in the changes, as the reality show’s first ever disabled contestant – Hugo Hammond from Hampshire.
Rumours are already swirling that the hunky 24-year-old PE teacher and cricketer – who was born with clubfoot – could take away the £50,000 cash prize, shared with a partner. Indeed, bookies Betfair have already got Hugo coming in top among the boys, with odds of 5/2.
Explaining his condition, Hugo – who admitted before heading into the villa to being ‘single for a while now’ – said: ‘I had lots of operations when I was a kid. You can only really tell when I walk barefoot. I’ve got a really short Achilles heel – I walk slightly on my tiptoes.’
But he’s never let it hold him back, and has enjoyed a successful sporting career: ‘I’ve actually played cricket for England PD [Physical Disability]. I’ve been to Bangladesh, Dubai, I’ve been everywhere to play cricket.’
Meanwhile, of the gorgeous girls all hoping to be tomorrow’s top reality stars and influencers, former glamour model and selfconfessed ‘party girl’ Shannon Singh, 22, from Fife, Scotland, has been given the same odds to walk off with the win at the end of this sizzling series.
Speaking about her dream man, straight-talking Shannon revealed: ‘Obviously, they’ve got to be handsome, but if he’s a handsome hunk but it’s like talking to a brick wall and I’d rather watch paint dry, it’s not going to be great.’
This could be fun! Meanwhile, Nando’s waitress Liberty Poole and water engineer Jake Cornish are currently the rank outsiders – but hey, as anyone who’s watched Love Island knows, it’s early days.
Literally anything could happen! We’ve got the popcorn in…
