Carol McGiffin
‘Around 30 years ago, I went on a tour of Great Britain. I wasn’t performing or anything like that, it was purely for pleasure and experience. I just jumped in the car, an old Jag, one day with my ex-husband and we drove the length and breadth, up the west side to Wales, then Scotland via the Lakes to the Highlands, and down the east side via Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, Norfolk and Suffolk. A month later we ended up in Brighton, before heading back to London.
It was so long ago I can hardly remember most of the places, so the excitement and anticipation building for a revisit to our beautiful countries during every weekend in September is monumental. I would say that the only downside is that this time I have to work, but that might be the best part of it.
Hanging out with the other girls
– Zoe Tyler, a first-class vocalist; Claire Sweeney, a West End legend; Rustie Lee, who does everything to the tune of a deep throaty roar of laughter; and Kate Thornton, the pro host and presenter – will be a massive treat, but even that’s beaten by the thought of rooms full of happy people having lunch and laughing ( hopefully!) while we gossip, tell stories and reveal secrets.
Some of us will be singing (not me, so don’t worry); we’ll be doing Q&As where guests will be able to ask us whatever they like; there’s cocktail-making and there’ll also be cake; competitions with prizes; and a free goody bag!
We’re also working with a great charity, Make2ndsCount, which supports those with secondary breast cancer and a part of the ticket price if you purchase from them will go directly to help them.
So, what’s not to like? And who isn’t gagging for a good old lunch and laugh? I know I certainly am, so I really hope to see you there!
