‘I stopped singing, too’

-

Sheridan moved audiences to tears when, judging on talent show Starstruck, she shared an emotional moment. A young contestant from Swansea revealed she struggled to get back to singing after losing her dad, but returned to the stage as Celine Dion. ‘I just wanted to say, my dad died too and it’s so hard,’ Sheridan said. ‘I stopped singing, too.’

Desperate to save her son from a potential long sentence served in a foreign prison, Kathy turns ‘tiger mum’, doing anything in her power to protect her boy.

Sheridan revealed that the scenario depicted in the script left her in tears. She explained, ‘I’ve never been to a read-through like the one for this. It was so powerful.

‘I mean, I cried all the way through. It gave me that jelly belly feeling of “what would you do in that situation?” Playing roles before I had Billy to playing ones now I’ve had him, is totally different,’ she said.

‘People had said you can’t understand the protectiveness and the overwhelming fear when you have a child, and he’s not even two yet, but I feel it. I hope it will resonate with the audience, they’ll be feeling all the angst as well.

‘It’s every parent’s worst nightmare. I love playing protective mums like that. Kathy is a lioness.’

Billy is Sheridan’s only child. His dad is her former fiancé Jamie Horn, but sadly the pair have now separated.

However, they are believed to be co-parenting, and Sheridan says she is happier than ever.

‘I try to take him everywhere with me, he’s like my little shadow. We’re like two peas in a pod, he’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me. So long as I keep working and have my little boy with me then I’m happy.’
