Alison’s alternative family

While people may think they know dynamic TV presenter Alison Hammond, she has given a fascinating insight into her family life that will surprise most…

-

Bubbly This Morning presenter Alison Hammond has opened up on the secrets of her home life – and it’s not exactly what you’d expect!

Speaking of her unusual living arrangements during a chat with her ITV co-star Holly Willoughby, on Holly’s By the Light of the Moon

podcast, Alison, 47, revealed that she lives with her son Aiden, 17 – and her gay best friend.

The former Big Brother

star admitted that the set-up, which might seem unconventional for some, was perfect for her.

‘My family life is so like… if you look at it from the outside you’ll be like, “how does that all work?”

‘I live with my gay best friend Jason, I’ve got Jason’s dog called Bobby, there is my son and me and it is such a great family and we work so well together. Jason’s there helping me with Aiden, Aiden is there helping Jason, the dog, helping me.’ She added: ‘It is just such a good little unit and I absolutely love my home life situation. I cook for my boys – I am winning!’

Sounds like a lot of fun, as living arrangements go!

Now a big TV star in her own right, Alison has resisted moving to the Big Smoke for her career and still lives in her hometown of Birmingham, commuting to London for This Morning.

She says her Brum roots are hugely important to her – recently stating, matter-offactly, that she never intends to leave the city.

‘I still live round the corner, five minutes away from my mum in Hall Green!’ she confessed.

‘And I like doing dead ordinary things when I’m away from work – I just dropped my son off at the SnowDome and that’s more important and more fun than all the partying under the sun!’

‘This is who I am,’ she added. And we wouldn’t have you any other way, Alison…
