The bowels of the Eisenerz ‘Iron Giant’ mountain belch out 500 riders at the start of the Hare Scramble. Racers set off in rows of 50 and head for the chequered flag 25 checkpoints away. The Hare is the jewel in Erzberg’s crown which also includes the Iron Road Prologue, a hillclimb and the traditional ride into town.
