Queues build up as the majority of the field floods in to sections which’d be difficult on a trials bike. It’s hot, tight and you have no choice but to follow the rider in front. 25 minutes moving a bike length at a time is a reality in some sections. Trading ‘you pull me, I’ll pull you’ is the best option as initial enthusiasm to get past everyone gives way to camaraderi­e.
