It won’t happen to me

-

I really liked the story in the

last issue about the guy who goes trail riding even though he’s only got the use of one arm. As bike riders we live with the possibility of serious injury. It’s a grim subject, so we mostly ignore it in a ‘It won’t happen to me’ sort of way. And it probably won’t. But we should highlight the work of the National Association of Bikers with Disability (nabd.org.uk) in helping people who have been hurt get back onto bikes. And given that, like the guy in the story, the cause of many motorcycle accident related disabilities is nerve damage, it’d also be worth celebrating the work of organisations such as Spinal Research (spinalresearch.org) in trying to find treatments to help people with spinal nerve injuries. How about bunging those two charities a few quid at Christmas? James Garland, email
