BLANCA, ANCASH, PERU

This dirt trail was peppered with potholes, scored with ruts and packed with loose stones and rocks. Up and up we went over Huascarán National Park’s rocky terrain until we came to a stop on a slender backbone of ridge. The silence up here is profound, fabulous condors soaring overhead.
