TRIUMPH
Hinckley based, but most bikes are made in Thailand
PEDANTIC CHECKING
Triumph’s Thai set-up is a large-scale version of Hinckley, but with even more quality control (QC). All parts are checked; for example, a frame assembly has 60 to 70 tests. If one fails they don’t try to rescue it – it’s scrapped. QC on engine parts involves X-ray and pressure tests, and the foundry makes crankcases even for Uk-built bikes.
NON STOP BIKES
Design, engineering and development is in the UK but 80% of bikes are made here. Three plants employ 1220 locals, with 23% female. They can make 350 bikes a day. The 765cc Moto2 engines will be made here.
