Who are Sarolea?

-

They’re an historic Belgian motorcycle company who built their first motorcycle (powered bicycle) in 1901. The company persevered until 1973 when they stopped trading, but things perked up in 2008 when the Sarolea name was bought by twin brothers, Torsten and Bjorn Robbens. These two had form with Sarolea – their grand uncle was a factory motocross rider for the company in the 1950s. They set up a factory near Ghent in Belgium and started work on an electric race bike. In 2014 a prototype (the SP7) competed in the Zero TT, coming fourth, just 0.4 seconds off the podium.
