Motogp bosses have confirmed that the new electric bike world championship will use tuned versions of the Energica Ego. In standard form the Ego makes 150bhp and – crucially – a whopping 144 lb.ft of torque (that’s 50% more than the 1000cc supercharged H2 SX on p36), so they’re not slow. The road bikes are limited to 150mph. As ever, range is the issue – Energica claim 120 miles, but that’s if you average 35mph. No news yet on the duration of races…
