Don’t diss Redding
Scott Redding has had a difficult time and a lot of criticism but I think his performance, on the Aprilia, at Sepang was pretty good. Being less than a second off Aleix Espargaro, who knows the bike inside out and is no slouch, on his first time out on the bike is promising. Don’t forget that the Aprilia will feel completely different to the Ducati he rode last year so there will be tenths of a second to come all over the place. Suddenly one second doesn’t seem too much to find. Bradley Smith getting beaten by KTM’S test rider Mika Kallio is a different story (Bradley was half a second slower on the final day). If I ever got beaten by the test rider I’d be gutted! My feeling is that Bradley needs to dig deeper. Kallio is fast, but if you’re the factory rider you can’t afford to get beaten by the test rider.
