Wrighty’s back

-

There was a familiar face in the paddock at BSB’S Oulton Park test, the Championship’s most successful team manager Colin Wright. He wasn’t in uniform but spent lots of time in the Halsall Racing pit. As of the Knockhill round Colin will be team manager. If you came to BSB post2009 you need to be told that this is a big deal. As manager of the GSE team Colin won five titles with Troy Bayliss, Neil Hodgson, Gregorio Lavilla, Shakey Byrne, and Leon Camier. When Darrell Healey’s team folded after losing its Wrigley’s Airways sponsorship, Colin left the paddock. He’s back to manage Tommy Bridewell in Superbike and Tom Ward in Superstock and it will be fascinating to see the impact of his famed no-nonsense approach. He doesn’t suffer fools at all, let alone gladly, and used to scare most people, especially his riders. Nevertheless, without hesitation Hodgson describes him as.’by far the best team manager I ever had.’ Fair play.
