High prices, low mileages

-

I was intrigued to see a complaint about the high cost and complexity of new adventure bikes, and the fact that their owners don’t put many miles on them, all in the same letter! (Bike, June 2018). Surely that’s exactly why a decent pre-loved bike is such a bargain? Bikes are well built and reliable these days, choose a fairly modern used bike carefully and look after it, and the chances are it’ll go, ‘round the clock’. The depreciation alone means the cost of running it will be a fraction of a new bike. Seriously, I love reading about those exciting new bikes because as long as someone buys ’em, rides them and trades them in, I get to ride it further down the line Graham Maddison, email
