Instead of velcro or zips Sidi’s Mag-1s use a combination of wire, magnets and ratchets to tighten the boot at three points by way of a simple twist, which can be a bit tricky at first but is easily mastered. The resulting fit is fantastic even when wearing thick socks. Great calf adjustment too. On a bike the Mag-1s feel safe, secure, light and give great feel of the bike’s controls. Off the bike, even after a year of use, they are a tad uncomfortable whilst walking, especially around the toes. The thick plastic gear selector protector can push down and rub. Also be careful when scraping the toe slider – the screw heads get worn which makes replacement tricky. Plenty of vents mean they are great for warm weather riding. If only they were waterproof.
