Licences explained (hopefully)

AM licence

You can get one at 16, but it only qualifies you to ride a moped.

A1 licence

Available at 17, pass the test and ride up to 125cc with no L-plates and carry passengers.

A2 licence

Available at 19, pass the test and ride bikes of less than 46bhp.

A licence

Pass the test and ride any bike. Available at 24 via the Direct Access training route. Or at 21 for people who’ve got an A2 licence.
