Thread cutting die

- Hugo Wilson

Used for: it wasn’t, but the 5/16” version was Price: £9 Info: tracytools.com

This is a 1/4” 26 TPI (that’s Threads Per Inch) BSCY (that’s British Cycle Thread ) die. You probably don’t need one. Neither did I as it turns out. What I actually needed to clean up the mashed axle stud threads on my 1948 Matchless was a 5/16” 26 TPI BSCY die, but in my confusion over imperial thread forms I ordered the wrong one. No problem, the good people at Tracy Tools swapped it. As you’d imagine, if they can supply something as obscure as a 5/16” 26 TPI BSCY die from stock they can also supply lots of more common metric taps (for female threads) and dies (for male threads) too. Recommended.
