October 19 21 Weston Beach Race, Weston-super-mare, Somerset

Seeing over 800 riders racing a looping track bulldozed out of the Weston-super-mare beach is as worth watching as any big sporting event you can name. Riders flat-out through salty spray on the mile long straight is like nothing else. Slightly less crackers but just as brave are the kids and quad races.

The International Dirt Bike Show at Stoneleigh Park is a showcase for everything off-road and the place to go if you want questions answered about training schools, getting started and kit. There are quite a few bikes to look at too. £16 on the door.
